Another yearhas rolled by though it seemed just yesterday that the session had begun. As Ilook back at all that has happened over the past ten months, I feel a sense ofpride especially at those children who have been late bloomers. It onlystrengthens my belief that all the efforts put in by my team may sometimesappear not to bear fruit, but one fine day, when one or the other childsuddenly bursts forth with a talent and confidence that was henceforth notvisible, it is both a revelation and proof that children do absorb what theyare taught and that they do learn as a result of all that they are exposed to.

There were the usual Inter Houseactivities – Elocution, art, writing, collage during the year and some of theperformances of students, were so outstanding, that I immediately short listedthem to be showcased in the Annual Concert.

However, if there is one spherewhere our students made a noticeable mark, it was music. Gone was the phasewhen a select few students sang on stage just mouthing the words and singing totune. Under the able tutelage of my music teachers, I noticed a metamorphosistaking place. These were children who were involved, engaged in theirperformance, grooving to the tune and getting the audience cheering clappingand egging them on. They were nothing short of young professionals. And all ofthis happened when our children competed against the very best teams of Lucknow, about 52schools, and stood second. There was no turning back hence. We took part in ourfirst ever Inter School Rock Band contest and stood 3rd amongst 18schools of Lucknow and Kanpur.

So if 2009 was the year ofachievements in sports, 2010 definitely was a turning point in the arena ofmusic.

For the third year in a row ourchildren again did exceeding well in the Inter School CBSE Sports and ourFootball. Athletics, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Basketball and swimming teamstook part in the cluster tournaments. Three teams qualified for the Nationals.

And this year the Art teachers hadsomething to boast about too. In an Inter school Art contest organized by TimesNIE, open to all city schools – our school kids bagged both the first andsecond prize. It was a proud moment indeed.

Academically too children fared wellwith both Class X and XII securing a cent percent result in the Boards.Considering their involvement in all the activities that are packed into eachday and the busy schedule they have, the result was commendable.

To me, the blossoming of each childas a whole not just in studies, is what is more important. If they can end upbecoming more confident and more responsible, if they are able to voice theirthoughts and express themselves better, if they have both good written andverbal skills, then I think, we as teachers have succeeded.

The highlight of the year was theMusical Evening on 26th January, our Annual Concert, a “harmonious”blend of children’s musical, artistic, and dramatic talents, a colourfulextravaganza which was greatly appreciated by all the parents. It was a perfectend to a year jam-packed with studies, activities, competitions, workshopsexcursions.
